Concrete homes are finding their way into the American real estate landscape – and not a moment too soon. Wood—the traditional material for homes--has become more scarce and expensive than before. Additionally, more and more people are recognizing the benefits of concrete homes, particularly their resistance to extreme weather elements, bugs and termites, and noise pollution. Concrete homes also offer better insulation, making them more energy-efficient than traditional wooden homes. The Concrete Homes Council has defined a concrete home as one made in cast in place concrete with the use of conventional forming systems. A concrete home may only have the exterior walls in concrete; or both the exterior and interior walls; or the exterior and interior walls, plus the flooring and roofing.
